We use our bank branches all the time.

Lloyds annoy us as the keep trying to get us to use the deposit machine and we do not want to.

They also keep telling me I should get a debit card and I do not want one.

    Santander are better.

I've still got an old halifax account with a passbook and no card. Its great. It is the only way that I pay cash into an account. My mother has the book and puts the cash in for me :D
The banks are all closed when I want them and you can't pay in money without the card at all the other accounts I have so she can't pay it in there.
I couldn't tell you where the nearest machine to pay money is to me but none of the cash machines I have used in the last few years have allowed paying in so not sure how I would ever pay money in if it wasn't for that.

No it doesn't. It shows that you like to operate your finances partly in cash. There are plenty of people who are, "in charge of [their] finances" who use very little cash.

Because that would suit them. It's all about suited them.
  • Once in the last year and that was to have a statement printed for a proof of address. Before then it had been a good few years.

HSBC have just shut our local branch so now you would need to go in to the centre of Bradford or Shipley.
Bradford is an evil hell hole so to be avoided at all costs and Shipley has very poor parking unless you stick it in ASDA car park and risk a fine for not shopping there.
My wife used to use our local branch quite often but as I leave for work @7:00am and don't return until 6:30pm I have no options to get to a branch.

Look at OTP's and the problems that has bought people because they can't get decent mobile coverage and thus can't receive yet alone enter the codes.

We went to the Salford shopping centre a couple of weeks ago to buy my grandson some Bench clothing that he was after - cue paying and out comes my phone for Apple pay to see no signal so no way of paying.
This is Manchester not a backwater and EE so the UK's biggest network
Had my wife not been there with her card we would have wasted a 70 mile round trip and several hours.

I last went in about 6 months ago and that was to change my address. I rarely use cash and have probably cashed 3 cheques in my adult life. I use online banking at least once a week, I'm sure there are lots of people who still use the bank but I don't.

It is good your wife was there! You would have felt really stupid if you had driven all the way home without buying anything and posted on here about it for me to tell you Apple Pay doesnt require a signal so it would have worked!. :rotfl:

Used a branch within the past year once and that was only because the machine didn't like the notes I was paying in. I do tend to use the inside machine in winter but as long as they have a machine I don't really have any need for the personal touch.
