Advice on finance payments that were never taken

hi everyone,

I'm after some financial/legal advice please :)

I bought a table from a large homeware company in Dec and paid a deposit in store
I set up a 6 month finance agreement to repay the remainder, 4 payments should have been paid to date.

Without a doubt they are meant to be taking the money from my account, I'm not meant to be calling up to pay.

I realised yesterday that they've not taken any payments, what are my rights? What will happen?

The company hasn't been in touch and I've only just realised this is going on, I kept the payments period short as I won't be able to afford high instalments later in the year. Can they just start taking the payments whenever they want? We had a written agreement, will they come and take my table?

Worried! Hoping for some advice

Thanks x

They won't be interested in taking your second hand table.

When they discover the error, they'll contact you and advise how the missing payments will be made up.

Just ensure you keep the money to one side.

    what are my rights?

You have the right to check your credit file. I would. There's a risk, although unlikely, that it could be trashed.

You have the right to let them know of their oversight. Perhaps register a complaint and ask for £25 compensation.

As above, I'm sure you've been grown up enough to retain the money not collected.

Call them and offer to send them a cheque for the overdue payments and ask that they take the remaining payments on time.

Don't be silly posters - OP is asking for a way for the debt to be written off.
Of course he/she has not got the monies saved that would be too easy and will now probably play the financial hardship card.

Ok enough said from me great advice from DCFC , Clive Woody, PeacefulWaters and ZX et all.
