Busy Mee's Last Leg

This happened when Mr Mee retired. He retired on 8 November and his pension is now paid on 8th. All our payments went out on 1st so I had to leave a buffer in the account. This time I have learnt and my last day of service is 31 August. This is a Tuesday and means I get paid for both the weekend and bank holiday 👍 It means my pension will be paid on the 31st. Which is the same as my salary.
Whilst I have been MIA from MSE I have been closing and consolidating bank accounts, so our banking and the spreadsheets are much simpler.
Thank you for all the good wishes on the baby news. We are very excited and will be helping with child care when DD returns to work in 2023. This has an added bonus as Mr Mee will be able to claim carers credits for his missing years when he was contracted out.
It is starting to feel surreal at work. I am still busy but starting to say goodbye to people now and have applied to have my IT Kit decommissioned. After talking about retirement for so many years it is nearly here 😬 I can’t wait. These last few weeks have felt like a huge inconvenience. I have better things to be doing than working !
Just a week to go. I will see you on the other side !5 -
That is wonderful news BM i am so pleased for you and something lovely to look forward to. I bought myself a big coachbuilt pram when my daughter was expecting her first baby and how i have loved pushing the babies in it , so exciting for you3

You can both claim carers' allowance in respect of children and relatives. My sister and her husband both claim it for my Mum. Sadly we can't. 450 miles away...Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Good morning from the other side
I no longer go to work !
Retirement has been a bit of a whirlwind and our feet haven’t touched the ground. My elderly stepdad died the Friday before I retired and then my Dad fell and broke his hip and elbow four days into my retirement . Dad is still in hospital and his recuperation is going to be long.We did manage a week away in Greece, which was wonderful and we might try and return in early October depending on what is happening with Dad.
All I have kept thinking was thank goodness I don’t need to think about work too. I love being retired and keep pinching myself. I am a bit fed up of people telling me I am lucky though. No luck was involved, just a lot of planning and MSEingNothing much to report financially. I am still technically employed and on leave until the end of the month, so still on full salary. Everything is on track and our IO mortgage will be down to £140K by end September. I hope to get my final pension stuff through in the next week or so. Tillytidying continues and the odds and sods account is looking healthy even after the pram purchase. I spotted the new NW switch offer and thought can I be bothered..,.. and of course the answer is yes. I will be switching our two Lloyds accounts for £200.
DD continues to be well and has just had her 20 week scan. It is a boy
So I am busy helping to sort Stepdads estate as one of the executors. I am not a beneficiary but our kids are. It looks like his house will sell quickly ....11 viewings in first weekend and one cash offer already in. I also need to set up a trust fund for one of the beneficiaries, but need some headspace to research that.
I honestly don’t know how I found time to go to workOh how I have been waiting to say those words !
