I saw one in the US guaranteeing all major work for five years. One year on an IPS e.max ZirCAD lower molar crown at £750 doesn't seem that fair ... ?

Any guarantee offered will have caveats and the cost built into the pricing will reflect the cost of replacing work.
A NHS crown is only guaranteed for one year and there is no guarantee on NhS bridges. The average practice will guarantee private work for 12 months.
This is because there are many factors that can cause the failure of a crown and most of them are not in the dentists control. A crown is never as strong as the tooth it replaced and such things as poor cleaning, poor diet, contact sports , grinding and clenching habits ,dry mouth can quickly cause any dental work to fail.
In the US the average cost for an emax crown is around $1500 so perhaps this will include the costs of providing a longer warranty.
