Cheapest Network South East season ticket

I may take a job that is based from home but will require travelling to London approx eight to ten times a month at varying times. I live in the South East.
I am trying to work out if it is worthwhile purchasing the cheapest annual season ticket (that I will not use) to qualify for a Gold Railcard.
The cheapest season ticket I have found is Drayton Park to Finsbury Park at £548.00.
Is there a cheaper ticket in the South East?

Many thanks. I have just been onto rail forums who suggest Lapworth to Hatton at £160 is the cheapest.
Lapworth has had an increase in passenger numbers of 50% in the last two years so it would appear I am not the only one.
Living in Weymouth the Gold Card will be invaluable - possibly combined with Split Ticketing.0 -
Exeter St Davids to Exeter Central is £140.Stompa0

Presumably the OP is after a Gold Card so they can travel first class? If not, would a simple Network Railcard be sufficient?Stompa0

Not sure if this helps (apologies if not), but a friend on mine a few years ago got an NUS card (student card) by enrolling onto a course for something like £25.
This NUS card then gave him discounts on things like train tickets, restaurants, gym membership etc.....
Could his be something the OP looks into to manage train fares?0 -
Cheapest gold card is lapworth-hatton at £160.
Advantage over network card is 33% discount on off-peak travel after 9.30am M-F without a £13 minimum fare.
There is slightly more expensive gold card between two of the newhaven stations.0 -

Not to mention the wider area of validity & that you can get the discount added to an Oyster card for cheaper off-peak travel in London0
