Hi,
Not sure if this should be in old style or health and beauty, but here goes!
I am looking at making my own cloth pads, which, with the right materials seem quite easy. Without going into the details, I generally need a liner most days of the month but I don’t particularly like wearing the extra liner. So, I was wondering..do you think it possible to make an everyday liner from the cloth stuff but then sew that into the underwear so it’s secure, rather than having the liner with fasteners?
I hope this makes sense! And thanks in advance for any advice.

You can - there are lots of ideas online for making your own version of Thinx (period pants), so it's definitely doable. There are lots of sites offering free patterns too.0

Yes, absolutely. I'd try a few different shapes and just tack them into place and wear them to see what you like the best.
It may also be possible to use a liner without any kind of fastening and without sewing it in, if your underwear is snug. Just lay it in place and see how you go. You'll probably find different fabrics move more or less than others. Also, in some knickers the gusset is left open at either end so you could potentially slip a liner underneath that, provided that you don't mind changing your whole underwear if needed.0 -
I don't see why not. I made several batches of pads before the menopause struck, and one of my girls is still using some of them at night. Mine were similar to these, but with just one popper; to make everyday liners, I wouldn't use 4 layers but 3. Originally I tried using Velcro as a fastening but have to say - it's wickedly prickly! A popper worked just as well & felt much better.Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
