Sounds to me like they wont be doing the numbers?
Any Unique Numbers that are still valid when we re-open can still be entered but they will qualify for the new way of collecting Nectar points.

Personally, I think the DM will likely push everyone to download the app (they are clearly trying to phase out physical newspapers altogether to cut costs by offering the digital version for a limited price of 1p!) and scan a unique QR code on the back of the paper which will directly take you to your Mail Rewards app account and credit them automatically. This way, they will be able to track users I reckon, to see who is actually purchasing the paper and who is wombling / fraudulently obtaining points. It will also cut out users being able to swap and help each other out because you can't transfer a QR code online or photograph one.

It also looks to have some kind of spinning wheel for points, rewards and prizes (as previewed on the home page), so perhaps you get a free spin with every QR scan?

I could be completely off the mark, but I can see this being a thing soon with the prevalence of QR code scanning on phones and I think a couple of others have mentioned it on here too.
