    How old is the account?

    When making settlement offers, it is advisable to only do so in writing. This is so that you have a paper-trail in case anything goes wrong...

    It's about 14 months old. I'm aware of the need to get things in writing, and will be insisting they send a letter confirming any offer, that my credit file will be marked as settled, etc should they eventually make or accept an amount I am happy to pay.
