Prepayment Prescription Cert - Expire Date....

Hi,

I have a pre-payment certificate which expires on 31st March.

My question is, if the date on the 'script (presumably the date the Dr writes it) is 31st or earlier, will it be free to collect? Or is the date of collection the relevant date for expiry?

I've tried googling an answer to this, but even the T&C's on the NHS prescription page don't give a clear answer. If anyone knows the answer I'd be very grateful, and a link to confirm would be useful also ;)

Thanks in advance

AIUI it's when the prescription is dispensed. I'll try to find a link.

Section 4 under How to avoid Penalty Charges would seem to cover it.
    4. Make sure your NHS exemption certificate or prescriptions prepayment certificate is valid
If you have an NHS medical exemption or maternity exemption, a tax credit exemption, or a prescription prepayment certificate, make sure the certificate is still valid.

Check the expiry date and renew it when it expires. If your certificate has expired, do not continue to claim.
You are claiming the exemption on the day the prescription is dispensed so the PPC would then need to be valid.
