VW Financial Services 'Preferential Early Termination'. Does anybody have any experience in this?

Sounds to me like you'll end up paying the depreciation on two new cars rather than one. When you get the figures, it would be worth looking to see if you'll actually be saving any money by doing this, it may be less £££ per month, but it will probably commit you to paying that for a lot longer.
