Medical expenses
Hello - I wonder if anyone can help with my query. I have been trying to get a diagnosis for Autism for a long time now, and it appears that the NHS do not do this for adults. I have been advised to go private and this has now been set up by an Autistic society. The cost will be approx. £500. Can I claim that funds back from NHS, since they fail to provide this much needed service ( a bit similar to going abroad and getting your operation paid for by NHS), apart from a) it is a diagnosis and b) I don't need to go abroad for this - but I have to pay - can I make a claim? Thank you very much to anyone who can answer this question, I really appreciate your help.

No, I'm pretty sure you cannot claim for services the NHS do not provide.
If you can tell us what your underlying needs are you might get some advice from others on how to meet your underlying needs without getting a diagnosis.0 -
Adult autism diagnosis is available on the NHS, but you'll need to meet certain criteria. Ask your GP what those criteria are.
Not a hope of claiming back the cost if you choose to go private.0
