Too Many Credit Checks

Hi All
I recently did a number of checks in a short period of time, all of which I was rejected for. Browsing this site, it appears to me that too this will adversely affect my credit rating. How long will this negative info (the rejection, and the multiple checks) last on my credit file?
Your help will be greatly appreciated

Credit checks stay on your credit file for a year . At this point, it is more important to find out why you were turned down in the first place. Indeed after the first declined application, it is usually best to get a copy of your credit file to make sure everything is ok. You should do this now before you apply for anything else.0

What's even more annoying is that Experian seems to be logging your own monitoring of your credit via their Credit Expert website as separate checks. I just logged in casually on Monday, Wednesday, Friday to see if my re-mortgage was finally processed and added to credit score and bang - that adds 3 checks against my credit file, experian pretty much screwed my own credit score with their service!0

Those checks on your credit file are for your eyes only. A creditor will not see them.0

alby28, that sounds like fraud to me, i'd ring the banks in question who have done the checks! They can't do a check without your permission, and no they don't check you before sending junk mail.0
