Hello there,
I've been browsing this site for a while, and am getting increasingly annoyed with my debts, so thought I'd say hello and pledge publicly to get out of debt!
Just turned 24, though I still feel 19 and live like a teenager still, but don't want to be carrying silly debts into my 30s and later!
I currently owe Egg £7,702 for a loan and £466.33 on my credit card!
The loan is from silly credit card debts from when I was younger, a loan for a car, and an extra couple of grand borrowed to pay for fees when buying a house.
Also have a £100,000 mortgage but let's not think about that for now
No idea what the credit card stuff is really. Treated myself to Wii a few months back though...
I bring in around £1,200 a month after tax.
Outgoings:
Mortage - £220
Loan - £285
C.Card - £50
C.Tax - £40
Utilities... I usually put around £80 a month away for utilities, and let the excess build up for unforseen expenses.. vet bills, car tax (I know not unforseen, but never at the front of my mind!!), etc.
Child Sponsor - £20
Holidays - I try to put £50 away when I can.
Phone - £30
Diesel - £30-40
Comes to about £800.
I spend absurd amounts on food. I love food, and spend FAARRRR too much on it. I enjoy cooking, and live with the OH and a friend of ours (bought a house between us three), and often end up cooking fancy meals for everyone. I'm going to try and cut back on this though, starting from tonight!
I also drink far too much, and have expensive tastes... malt whiskies, fine wines, ales etc. Think I need to regulate this as well.
I'm starting a sepnding diary today as, thinking about it, I reckon I'll be shocked by the amount of money I spend day to day on rubbish things like cans of coke/red bull, scratchcards, snacks.
My loan runs out in April 2010... but I'm hoping to cut it back further. Initially aiming for a DFD of December 2009!

Hi OP
welcome, well done for recognising your faults and being honest about where you are going wrong. A spending diary should really help you here because its shocking to see how much you really spend on each aspect of your life.
Use the demotivator tool, this is a great help as it shows you how much those spends on food, wine etc... add up!
Good luck:eek: Total debt £21,000 :eek:Weight loss to date - 2 st, 2lb:j0 -
