Circle.com Referral links

FYI

Links to this site have been posted a few time now on the competition board.

Each time they have been posted as a referral link - they have a code at the end of the web address which previously generated cash for the person who owned that code.

It comes over as some kind of pyramid scheme as it actively encourages people to get more people to sign up.

The board in the last few months has been full of self promo and referral codes, getting to be an issue.

I agree this one keeps getting posted. At least it's not a hidden link.

I find it so difficult to work out which ones are promo and referral codes. Does anyone have any tips to share to help to spot them?

I was thinking the same. I've come across a couple on the board recently that haven't looked quite right but I've felt uncomfortable sticking my oar in to say so as I don't really know what I'm looking for. I've ended up just bookmarking the comp and checking later to see if it's been pulled.

Agree. Reported a few referral links over the last few weeks. Repeat offenders too. Even when pointed out they choose to ignore the request to change it.

Good way to spot if it's a referral link is when you click the link and it changes to the proper URL. Just copy and paste the link in another window and no referral given.

To be honest, standards on this board have been on the decline for a while for a multitude of reasons but I honestly can't be bothered going into it.

It appears the op has edited the link again to make it a hidden referral link.

    Not impressed at all

Why the outrage over referral links? Because someone getting something for nothing? is that not good?

Because the op has hidden the fact it is a referral link and it is earning them money. In fact the op has gone back and edited a clean link the forum team edited into their post and replaced it with a hidden referral link.

There is a place to post referral links and it's not on the competition forum.

This has been posted before and no where has it been made clear that you are earning the op money by using their link. The deception is the part I object to.

The forum rules on referral links and where to post them are clear, posting them elsewhere on the forum is against the rules and trying to disguise them as non-referral links is plain and simple cheating.
