Thanks for the advice guys. I was offered a loan by Shawbrook so I've taken that and put it in a separate account which I'm using as my float fund. Hopefully this will also start increasing my credit rating.0

While stressing that I'm neither an accountant nor a tax specialist, I can't help thinking that you should enquire (with someone suitably qualified) about whether you can claim tax relief on any interest incurred on that loan, given that it is arguably a working expense? You may already be doing so, in which case great, no further action needed.
