Can an employer cancel Easter holidays?

After some advice. We were to be off Friday and Monday but the boss said today he’s gonna cancel it because we are so busy.
Now in my contract it states several set days we are off, these include Good Friday and Easter Monday, rest of our leave is up to the employer.
I’d maybe think about it if it was over time with a day in lieu but no just a normal working day.
Any advice?

I'm sure someone will give you a more 'legal' response but I'd be considering
a) how long have you been there
b) how 'strong' is the business
in both cases is the short term pain worth more than potentially having no job0 -

5 years. Business has gone to pot, they have been gready and taken on to much work while not replacing employees that have left. There is 3 of us doing the work of 6 men.0 -
Yes they can, and they have given sufficient notice to do so.
However, if you have made plans which will incur costs if you cancel, I would make the employer aware of this and request reimbursement.

What does the contract actually say. I'll be darned if there isn't a get-out clause.0

Union?
They can consult on a change of contract but can't force them to go in. It's like being forced to work on a weekend if your normal hours are Mon-Fri.
OP since you have been there for 5 years I'd stand my ground and not go in.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

Overtime and a day in lieu is taking the p!ss, plain and simple - and just as greedy as the company you're chastising.
Stick with one or the other and you might have more luck - any reasonable employer should have offered it anyway.0 -
When is the holiday year?
How much holiday do you get inc the set days in the contract?0 -
We have been told we can have easter Monday , but need to work Easter Sunday instead because we too are so busy. We have decided we will work the Saturday and get away at lunchtime on the Monday
As long as the orders get out our boss is happy with our solution.0 -
