Scratch on glass dining table?

Hi all,

As the post title suggests, I have somehow managed to scratch my glass dining table  . Are there any OS remedies (or otherwise!) for reparing this, or at least reducing its appearance?

Thanks in advance,

Megan

I have heard using tooth paste in scratches then buffing it off is meant to work on glass faces of watches? The samething both glas just a bigger dimension? Worth a try isnt at worse you'll have to clean the table again lol.....am sure someone will have a better idea though.

Could you try the stuff you can use to repair small scratches in car windscreens? Have seen it in Halfords, don't know if it's any good though!

Used to be able to get "Jewellers Rouge" for glass scratches. Perhaps have a word with a local jeweller to find where to get some? They might even give you some if you ask nicely...very MSE.
  • Don't know if it would work on a table but we use Hob Brite on any glass to get scratches and marks out. Works on our glass hob and the front of our fire (and on the front of mobile telephones!) Might work
  • Thank you all for the replies. Where can you buy Hob Brite? Would Wilko's or any supermarket have it?

I would try a tiny drop of Brasso on a cotton wool ball and a gentle buff/polish of the scratch.;)

  • I used dampened steel wool, the finest grade used for finishing,to get scratches off the glass door when we moved here,it worked a treat. They use it for french polishing so it's very gentle.Costs about £2.95 at B&Q.

Just to resurrect and old thread.....

I had a distraught DS2 wake me up on Saturday as he had 'improvised' having lost the stylus for his Nintendo DS Lite and scratched the touch screen.

A quick search of the [STRIKE]household oracle[/STRIKE] Old Style boards brought up this thread. I happened to have some hob brite in the cupboard so I gave it a go

    WOW!!!!!

    Thanks Old Stylers!! :kisses3:

Hi all, i hope someone can help. Been to see a close friend today and our children were palying together of the dining table. My son has scratched the table by scraping rather than lifting something.

It doesnt look too deep but it is noticeable :(

I immediately offered to replace the table to which i was told dont be silly, but i know my friend saved up for ages for the dining suite so i need to do something to try and fix it

. I expect some posters will say that accidents happen and if she was that bothered there should have been a cloth on the table etc but i dont comfortable with that . Just looked online and the table was £750 so i really hope i can suggest/buy something to at least try and remove the scratch

    Anyone any ideas?

    TIA
