G24 Early payment issue

Hi all,
I've googled G24 and many, many posts send me in this direction! So, wondering if anyone can advise with this conundrum:
G24 wrote to me to say that I had outstayed my welcome in one of their car parks- which had a maximum stay of 150 minutes and I had been there for 174. Fair enough, guilty as charged etc..#
So, I send off a cheque (unfortunately I didnt record when I posted it, but the cheque was dated..) 7 days after the letter arrived, thus only paying the 50 reduced charge as it was well within the 14 days allowance for early payment.
However, at the weekend I get another letter from G24 thanking them for the "part payment" but saying that I owe them a further £40. They don't say it- but I am guessing they are suggesting that initial payment wasnt made within the 14 days given.
So, by paying the £50 already I've accepted fault- so I am assuming I now cannot just sit back and ignore this second demand for more money? What should I do? The cheque was sent towards the end of of the 14 day early payment window, but well within it. But they are suggesting I now owe the full amount...
Suggestions please? Should I a) pay the outstanding £40, b) contact the IAS, c) choose to do nothing and risk debt recovery and court action? Needless to say, there is no phone number given with which to try to have an adult conversation with these guys!
Thanks in advance!

They will sometimes look to further mug an easy touch. You were (and still are) under absolutely no obligation to pay them a penny - unless a Judge tells you to do so, and there'll be no Judge telling you to do so as G24 has never been anywhere near a courtroom - ever.

Sorry, but you've been done over - don't get screwed for any more. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Has the cheque been cashed?0

Indeed, just tell them when the cheque was sent, meaning it was deemed received 2 days later and as such is deemed paid on the same day. Delays in their cheque cashing (check when this happened) is no concern of yours.
You require they cease harassing you for further paymetns
Oh in future - dont jsut pay. Come here FIRST.0 -
Fair enough, guilty as charged etc.
Nonononononononono. And more, no.
Now you are on a mugs list. Please no throwing good money after bad.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Thanks chaps- I realised when I googled G24 that they are not good, as I came across this site and others telling me so... so yes, I am a mug for sending them the £50 but I did it in honesty as I know I was in that carpark longer than planned.
So, should I just ignore this request for another £40 or try to contact them, somehow? They dont give a phone number, other than one to make payment on...
I cant remember when I posted it, though I know it was the week it was very snowy! So that makes it 7 days after the letter was posted to me...0 -
NEVER pohone
WRite and state that full payment was made on X date, deemed served on Y date. CHeques are deemed paid the day they arrive. Their failure to process the cheque quickly enough is not your issue.0 -
you really need to get up to speed on this 'cowboy industry' (Hansard)
did you watch the link that the The Deep posted ?
have a read through the newbies thread .... it will explain what you should have done
but
more importantly explain what to do next time

Just get on with your life and laugh at each letter. DO NOT CONTACT THEM, GET OFF THAT HOOK!!
Come back if they break the habit of a lifetime and try a small claim, but no need to hold your breath as it won't happen.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
