I have never wombled, but once I was in the queue behind a woman who had just spent £350 and didn't have a clubcard, so she turned round and asked if I had one! :j

£3.50 worth of vouchers = £14 in deals - went nicely towards the Eurostar tickets I'm saving up for. The SA didn't seem to mind. I didn't feel skanky, just lucky!

Yes, this is exactly the sort of thing that happens, also with the Sports Vouchers being offered currently. SA's will ask if I want them, when previous customer has said 'No'.
If at CS, I always say 'I've found a few more' and we sometimes joke about the sort of shopping it is, as I say it's not mine.

I imagine that it would be classed as 'obtaining property by deception', with the property being the points awarded (property does not need to be tangible).

That was the thought that came into my head.

By handing over the receipt and asking them to put them on your card, you are implying that you bought the goods, and there is clearly intent there. It is a criminal act.

If you have a look at the Terms and Conditions for the Clubcard - http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/clubcard/tcs/ - it's not clear that they purchases must be made by the person claiming the points. Therefore, I don't think they could argue that there's an 'implication' that someone presenting a receipt and asking for the points to be added is in any way acting dishonestly.

It says "To collect points for a transaction in-store, your Clubcard card or Key Fobs must be presented at the checkout." But also states "You must also spend at least £1 in a single transaction for the transaction to qualify for points." So it could be argued that it implies that "You" must spend the points but it's extremely unclear. There is no reference in the terms to adding the points at a later time - so it would seem that's at their discretion anyway.

I'm in two minds about it:
    - on one hand it's no different to someone getting the points if you aren't using them yourself
    - however, 1 point (worth 1 pence) for £1 is 1%. It all adds up and it's a falsehood to suggest that it's not costing all shoppers more.
