Credit check on remortgage

Options
I have recently moved in with my partner.

It is her house and her mortgage and it will stay that way.

The current cheap rate mortgage ends in September and she intends to remortgage to avoid the interest rate hike as far as possible.

My question is, given that I have no interest in the property and do not want any interest, will my financial position and credit history be taken into account when she applies for the mortgage?

Thanks in advance

My partner re-mortgaged last year and his mortgage company (Nationwide) made me sign a form to say I had no interest in the property or something similar (I cannot remember the exact wording) My credit history was not taken into account.

There are usually no credit checks done on customer retention products.

A remortgage, which is a new mortgage with a new lender to repay the old one would, as you are taking out a new mortgage.

  • Even though I have no interest in the property and the mortgage will have nothing to do with me? The property is in my partner's sole name, it will remain in her sole name and the mortgage will be entirely her responsibility. I am effectively a lodger.

The checks are done only on the applicant.

You will be required to sign a consent to mortgage form only.
