Overpayment conundrums

  • Upon speaking to RBS here is information the folks might find of use.

It takes 10 working days for an overpayment to clear and the balance to be reduced.

After overpayment(s) have occurred you can ask for a recalculation at any point. But the overpayment has to have cleared. Now the lady did not state a minimum value on that request.

There are currently no charges incurred asking RBS for a recalculation. (I wonder how long that will last).

I pointed out that I felt it was unclear on RBS website with regard the guide previously posted.

So then what about the non reduction of the term. This in tandem with the two previous would mean the overpayment are pointless.

It means the official term does not reduce.

It does not mean that overpaying does not reduce the amount of time it takes to clear the debt.
