Council tax has nothing to do with services received or contract law. It is simply a tax on property covered by legislation.0

then why not look up the law instead of spouting nonsenseGold_Anaconda wrote: »Before anyone comments I would just like to make clear that I don't wish for this to turn into a debate about unoccupied property. I'm also aware that council tax exemptions vary from council to council. What I want to know more about is the legalities involved, not the trivialities.
in what way, shape, or form do you think you have contract for services when you receive a TAX demand based on STATUTE LAW. Do you have a contract for the provision of the NHS when you pay national insurance ? Do you have a contract for the provision of the MOD when you pay income tax so they can fight for your freedom?
and please do not start spouting freeman of the land tripe0 -

I expect that the owner of the empty property would expect the Fire Brigade to attend in the event of a fire, the police in the event of a break in, the street to be lit so that the police could see what they were doing, the road and pavement to be maintained so that he didn't break his car springs or his ankle on defects in same when he visited his empty property.......0
