Fixed Term Contract question

Hi,

I have worked for the same company for the past 20 years. Last year I nearly left taking Volentary Redundency but a suitable alternative post came up. It is fixed term until November this year. It's for 40 weeks of the year and I have been told when I must take my holidays.

Last Monday I unexpectedly needed an operation. I have been signed off for 2 weeks So far, as yet I don't know if I will need any more time until I see my consultant.

Can someone advise me where I stand in regard to my contract. Does anyone know will I owe the company back any time I have had off or it's it's sick leave am I just given it as such?

Thanks :)

    What does your contract say?

Having sick leave would not normally extend your contract. But is there a particular task to be done which is known to take a certain fixed amount of time and only you can do it and therefore would need to have your contract extended in order to get the job done?

Being fixed term is not relevant at all.

You are an employee like any other, so the sick leave policy would apply in most cases (you don't say what the operation was - the exception is typically cosmetic work)
