hi, just wondering if anyone can answer this??
When i lived with close relatives i never had a problem in getting a credit card or loan.
i now live with my partner and two young children in our housing association rented house, so obviously we are classed as tenants (unfurnished).
i have a PCP agreement for a car with one company and a loan through my bank which was guaranteed by the bank so a presume they didn't check my credit file for that???
i must have try about 4-5 times during the two years to get credit and i get a big fat NO!!
i have checked my credit report and i have a good rating in my view just a couple of 1's (means warning apparantely) with virgin media...
In anyones opinon/ expertise will this be to do with the fact we are tenants or something else, i.e creditors think we are over-commited financially( £15k outstanding on both debts)????
thanks for your time reading this!!!!!!!!!
p.s - sorry i earn nearly £16k p.a my partner £4K p.a

It can get quite complicated when trying to figure why you ar ebeing rejected. Main things to check - do you have a maestro chip + pin debit card for your current account, c/c ?? any defaults on previous lending. Being a tenant can have a negative response,this can be helped if you put yourself on the votors roll. And finally one of the biggest factors can be if you are paid direct to the bank, as opposed to being paid cash.0

thanks for your response, our current account is visa debit cheque guarantee card, wages plus all others go straight into account and been on the elect register at the last 3 addresses i've lived at.
i presume it must just be the tenant issue & the virgin media blotch on my report!!!!!!!!!
any further thoughts would be appreciated!!!!!If your lucky enough to be irish, your lucky enough0 -
-you have debts of more than your yearly take home salary; that is a huge debt;

hi i know what your saying but as a couple we come out with abou £1,200 monthly and that doesn't include the CTC & CB we get for our children, the two loans combined cost us just under £390 a month - sorry for misleading, i don't want to take out additional borrowing ( that would be irresponsible in our position ) just shift them, especially the car 12%apr - the loan i realise isn't that bad (7.9%) just pi**ed of with halifax for mis-selling me the ppi on it (currently waiting for their verdict) so would love to take my custom elsewhere but after reading other stories on here the 7.9%apr i've got, probably should be grateful!!!!!!!!!
just don't what to get refused elsewhere if possible!!!!If your lucky enough to be irish, your lucky enough0
