HMRC non-coded income

Hiya,

I just received a notice in the post today to say i've underpaid tax.

I have just started a new job so I didn't expect it to be plain sailing but it's not clear how they're working things out.

I logged into HMRC to see if it made things clearer and I think it has something to do with the 'non-coded income' i'm seeing as it works out the tax i've supposedly underpaid to within 2p.

Does anyone know what this could be? I don't think it's to do with my new job because I only got paid £500 for the first pay check as it was only a week and this is £700 odd.

I will give them a ring tomorrow but didn't know if anyone could shed any light on this non-coded business?!

Comments

  • What exactly have you received and for what tax year?

If it is a tax code can you post the full details of how the code is made up?

How many jobs have you had in this tax year and have you had any overlapping payments for example paid by two employers in the same tax month when you changed jobs?
