Ex partner and mortgage

After some advice for my partner. He has a joint mortgage with his ex girlfriend, two children together. She put the house up for sale last year and put an offer in for a place in December which got accepted. They had a cash buyer for their house and it’s pretty much sorted minus a few last searches.shes now pulled out of the house she wanted and has said she can’t find anywhere suitable so is most likely going to pull out the sale of their house, as you can imagine extremely frustrating as there is just over 100k equity in the house and he’s waiting on this in order for us to get a place together. So my question is, is there anything that can be done? He wants his money out the house as it’s now messed his plans up. He’s living at his parents so can’t move on at all. I get he can’t force the sale because of the kids but there isn’t a lot of equity in the house, he isn’t going to seek advice but be next week now. Just wondered if anyone could add any info that might help.
