Cumberland?

Options
I had a look at some mortgage rates earlier via MoneySupermarket and decided to check how much the top 5 deals would be willing to lend us. Oddly Cumberland Building Society are quoting that they would lend us £50k more than anyone else.

I know this is by no means a guarantee but as we don’t have any Cumberland branches nearby, does anyone know how likely they are to lend such a high amount compared to anyone else?

Give them a call. £50k is a considerable variance. Though needs to be into context of the total amount and your financial circumstances. Lenders do have different target markets. Being a smaller lender then there's more flexibility in underwriting. Rather than than the broad brush board level corporate lending policies.
  • Do you know which type of deal it is you're looking for, eg. Fixed rate? Some of Cumberland's rates will not be available to you if you are not in their branch operating area.
