Nationwide mortgage application-usual turn around?

Following our AIP through broker with Nationwide, a full application was submitted yesterday.
We have given all requested paperwork already to the brokers.

What's the usual time frame now?

Comments

  • Nationwide's average turnaround from application to offer is currently 12 days. Is this a purchase or remortgage application? If remortgage, then Nationwide may do an automated valuation, which would speed things up. Timescales can vary wildly depending on the complexity of your situation however.

We just got our mortgage offer via Nationwide our timeline below:

    Feb 22nd Application Submitted
Feb 27th Valuation completed and returned to NW
March 2nd NW ask for more documents which were sent back same day
March 7th NW ask for the same documents again - took 4 phone calls to sort out
March 14th Text message and email from NW to say mortgage approved

20 days in total but only 15 working days, and it would have been quicker if they'd read the documents properly the first time...
  • We are purchasing (First time buyers)

Our broker did the AIP-are these more accurate, in terms of chances of getting the actual mortgage through a broker?

    Thanks
  • As per the other post above, Nationwide can be a pain to deal with at times, but as long as your broker is on the ball he should help things go through smoothly. Where a broker can add value is that they have access to all the lenders' criteria and can spot any potential pitfalls early on in the process. Your broker should only have submitted the full application if they were confident you met the lender's requirements.

I phoned today to get an idea of current timescales. Was told our valuation was received by them yesterday (14th, but my application tracker tells me it was actually 13th) and after checking her updated list I was advised we would hear on Tuesday. Valuation was carried out on 9th but not sure how relevant that is as no idea how long they took to send it to Nationwide.

We heard within 48 hours of application last time which has led me to being disappointed this time round!
  • We seem to be having a bit of a backwards experience. Our full application went in on 28th Feb, all our documents were approved and valuation instructed on 13th March.. but we don't even have a date for that yet. Might call or email my MA later, but don't want to pester her :-/
