There are some benefits to the integrated route. The academies do have connections with the airlines and it is generally the fastest path to a right-hand seat. However, it is very expensive. There are also many people who leave the courses, which are very intense, part-way through with a debt hanging over their head.
Unless you are in a position to repay tens of thousands to avoid losing your home if it all goes pear-shaped, I would recommend looking closely at the modular route. Living at home, with a job in Tesco/Sainsbury's/etc., and some support from you here and there, your son could do it in three years or so with no debt at the end of it.
Whatever route you chose, get his class I medical at the outset0 -

I learned to fly with the ATC, from the long since closed RAF Finningly, obviously would not of qualifyed me to fly a jumbo, but certainly a chipmunk and later a jet provest.
