will it be edible?

so not looking forward to this half term had kids and hubby about my feet all morning did my dough to made a loaf and some bread rolls in shapes for the kids am just waiting for them to finish rising so i can cook them and i have just remembered i did not add any butter or oil to the mixture?????

what does this mean are they gonna be really bad or will they still be edible or should i just chuck the lot and start again :(

    They'll be OK. Maybe they'll go stale quicker. In any case, I wouldn't chuck it. If you're not going to eat the bread, whizz up with some cheese and freeze in portions to top cauli cheese, lasagne etc.
  • I don't put any kind of fat in my bread (except on the tins to grease them) -not sure why you need it really -I'm sure your bread will be fine ;)

    they'll still be edible.. it just means they won't keep as well (dry out faster). I would eat them all asap.. and serve the rolls with something to dunk them into (stew, soup, that kind of thing).. they'll be slightly drier than if you'd put the oil in. I've done this a couple of times... it won't slip down the throat as easily so you'll need to make sure you spread marg/butter or something on the bread when you cut it for sandwiches. The alternative is to let it dry out anyway and use it for breadcrumbs or bread and butter pudding.
