Tooth extraction

Hi I’ve had my tooth out today it a top right tooth. I’ve read the leaflet the dentist gave me and said I can’t salt wash until 24 hours after the extraction however it says to wash after eating food. I’m currently eating and concerned about food getting traps. I’m eating on the left side to try and minimise it. I won’t be able to wash until tomorrow morning.
Thank you
Thank you

Be careful not to 'swoosh'.
I had a failed extraction 5 weeks ago and had the remainder removed on Thursday. I've got quite a bit of pain still.Still on soup and yogurt !!!55357;!!!56867;0 -
I had an upper right tooth pulled yesterday. They said not to eat hard food that'd get stuck in the gap and start salt water rinses after 24 hours. I ate normally yesterday and didn't seem to get anything trapped in the gap.
Also not to spit (ie after brushing teeth) for a week, either swallow or just let it dribble out. I wasn't allowed to spit out the saliva and gunk that the extraction left in my mouth, I had to swallow it.
I had a lot of saliva last night, but now all the pain's gone and everything's back to normal so I'm just following the instructions on the rinsing etc.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Did the dentist really just give you a rather ambiguous leaflet and no verbal instruction?
Rather than just coming on a web forum and asking questions from people who have no real knowledge on the subject, or worse still - pretend they might have, it would be better googling a reasonably respected site like NHS direct, or this one, and see what they have to say.

Medical advice shouldn't be given on this forum. If still in doubt, seek clarification from your dentist.
Edit - another decent set of instructions
http://www.ouh.nhs.uk/patient-guide/leaflets/files/110812dentalextractions.pdfHow to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Whatever you do, don't dislodge the clot, don't play with it with your tongue, let it settle. The risk otherwise is to get dry socket and that is massively painful.0
