My mum loves my lemon drizzle cake, so for Mother's Day I made her a cake. Brother bought her two raspberry canes instead of flowers ( they will last longer). We also took mum out for a lunch but we didn't have a pudding, we all went back to Mums and had some cake (She hAs the other half to enjoy - we didn't eat it all).2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I had posted a lot on the old thread over the years (been a member on here 12 years now!) and benefited a lot from other tips. Here is a couple of my favourites:
1) buying white paint can be a lot cheaper than colours and in the past I have created my own colours of paint by adding from a sample pot to white paint and giving it a good stir. Tips to remember that you might not need to add a lot if you want a light or pastel colour (for pale pink I used a cough medicine cup and used 40ml of red to 5L of white paint), measure what you put in and add in small amounts, take note of what you add and stir well!
2) using reusable containers for sandwiches/packed lunches is cheaper in the lon run than using foil/cling film everyday. Take away plastic boxes make great sandwich boxes and they fit Warburtons bread better (a rectangular shape!)
3) a quick draft excluder can be made using an old pair of pyjama, jeans or any other trousers or thick tights. Stuff with scrunched up newspaper and tie off the ends (pull one leg inside out into the other before filling).CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -

I am trying my own version of the downshift challenge (not on food - already done that but on non-food items).
Books - charity shops and library
DVD - second hand through Amazon or cs
Hand wash - not carex or Molton Brown -Lidl's cern
Sanitary liners (still prefer Always but happy for suggestions).
Bags - cloth only - never pay for plastic
Water - have own refillable water bottle - tap is good enough for me. ( in restaurants when meals come with a drink I sometimes order the drink unopened and take it home and then have tap water in the restaurant - then I take the drink out when I do a quiz with my water bottle).
What non-good items have everyone else downshifted?2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Cleaning products and possibly might try £1 shop hair dye to save some pennies but not tried it yet . I might try one and if i like it stock up - easy for me though as very dark brown hair so not a lot could go wrong.Grocery challenge Feb £107/£100-epic fail due to cake and biscuits

My hairdresser is fab (she is a mobile hairdresser, lives near my mum) I buy off her, at cost price, peroxide and hair dye tubes - so that I can dye my hair inbetween cut, dye and straightening potion - which I have done every 8 weeks. It helped cut my hair dressing bill down by over £215 a year. (I live approx. 55 miles away, so I visit family and have my hair done at the same time).2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Went to a meeting today in London. Hotel provided Fox's glacier mints. At the end of the day I took 1/2 dozen with me. They will be welcomed when we are travelling on the trains.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Have updated thread title
My sneaky way is to keep a kilner bottle of water in the fridge. When guests come there is very cold water to pour, which looks nice on the table, but is just tap water. Somehow it feels fancier and like it tastes nicer (I'm sure it's psychological though). Saves plastic, too!
I also get into work early every day, beats traffic (which saves fuel), and I have my morning coffees here from the fancy machine (saves me buying it for home). Also means I can crack on in peace and then leave early to beat traffic on way home0 -
