Hi
I am hoping that the Vodafone Rep "Lee" reads this as i need some information/help on how to get vodafone to update my credit file from an old contract account that i have with them 3 years ago. I have sent off the letters as per the suggestion in the credit file section to get other companies to update my credit file which they have done. I have not had a response from Vodafone as yet and i need some help in getting them to update my credit file. I have not even had an acknowledgement from Vodafone to say they have received my complaint even though i sent the letter as recorded and someone has signed for it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The default must be on there for a reason0 -

Hi there, after some advice please. I’ve had a default applied to my credit for £40 I unknowingly owed Vodafone from my ended contract. They did not call me, or write to me to tell me it was outstanding and to ask me to pay it. The first I knew I owed them money was when I received the default notice. I paid it immediately. How can I get this default removed? I unknowingly owed them and paid as soon as I discovered it. How can they issue a default when you are not even informed about the outstanding amount? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.0

Did you cancel a direct debit?
Many people seem to think, contract ended so cancel direct debit. Yet your final bill from a phone contract can take up to two months to come through and a large number of these type of defaults for minimal amounts seem to occur because people cancel a direct debit too early preventing the final bill being paid. Rule of thumb, leave a direct debit in place for at least six months after a contract end date, this allows for any final payments/refunds to be issued. (This is for all bills not just mobile networks.)
It also gives you a strong position in any dispute about unpaid bills, the payment method was in place and the company didn't take it.
Your first port of call if you've any chance of getting this removed is to complain to Vodafone.0
