I've probably missed the boat....but wanted to add my tuppence worth.
I love, love, love my Panasonic - it makes really good bread, is fuss free, and generally a great addition to the kitchen. Someone mentioned above about whether it makes jam, sadly it doesn't.
Before this one I had a Kenwood, which I actually wore out - I had it for 6 years before it finally gave up the ghost. It made really good bread, and the model I had had a jam function, which was great. (I was that impressed with it I almost replaced it with the updated model)
So, what I'm trying to say is that it isn't only a two horse race...have a look at the Kenwood too...0 -
I have a morphy richards. I am happy with the bread from it. In fact I found another breadmaker (morphy richards) in the charity shop the other day. Newer than mine but plastic. Mine is the stainless steel one. Anyway I bought it for a tenner as a standby. My DH has had to repair mine several times now. If he wasn't handy with mending things I would have been a bit dissappointed when the control panel stopped working after a year. I do use it more or less every day though.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

How much does a HM loaf of bread work out at?
We discussed this a year or so ago and I think we came to the concensus that, dependant on the qualilty/price of your flour, an ordinary white loaf cost somewhere in the region of 20-40p each, although flour has gone up since then.
Of the top of my head, a 2lb loaf for me costs:
600gm flour (I use strong bread flour) 25p
water (free)
1/8th tsp salt (negligable)
2 tbsp oil
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp yeast
vit c tablet
.............. last 5 ingredients = 10-15p and some aren't always necessary
So - 40p plus leccy for the BM. But the taste alone is worth it as is the fact that I can control the amount of salt. I now find shop bought bread both tasteless (or "plastic") and ver salty.
And a decent BM can make so much more than orinary bread. Wonderful fruity breads, cakes jam etc.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm may have to press mine into use again today :rotfl:0
