SPOOF ebay email doing the rounds

Options
Hi everyone ive already posted this on the ebay board but thought id post here aswell incase some of you dont read that section and get conned!!

I just got an email supposidly from ebay titled ''eBay account renewal notice''
it says i need to renew my account details yearly and to follow the link in the email to do so or my account will be cancelled!
I found it abit fishy so i forwarded it to ebay and they confirmed it was a scam.
So please be on your guard-if ebay ever want to contact you their will be a message in your 'my ebay' page of eaby aswell as an actual email.
Thanks,Laura.
it takes more energy

Not only ebay and paypal but from numerous banks asking for updated information! I have IE 7 on my PC and it has an "anti phishing filter" which has been very accurate in pointing these out. The obvious advice is never part with any personal info such as account numbers, pin numbers, password etc on-line unless you are very sure you can trust the website you are on.

The golden rule here is to NEVER EVER click on a URL in a non-solicited email. Often if you hover the mouse cursor over the link the actual URL will show in the bottom left of the screen ... usually they can be easily seen as having nothing to do with the original company (although do check carefully .. sometimes there is a subtle spelling mistake that can be easily missed).
