Advice please, eBay item never arrived!

This is my second attempt at trying to get some advice about this
A few weeks ago I ordered something from eBay, but after waiting for 2 weeks it never arrived, so I asked the seller for a refund.
The seller sent me the tracking information proving the item was delivered, I checked the royal mail website with the tracking information and it showed a signature that wasn't mine.
I explained that to the seller and never heard anything back from them.
Yesterday I got an email stating that eBay have closed the case and that I won't be getting a refund.
I've asked my neighbours and local post office and it hasn't been delivered to them.
So what now? Is there anything I can do!?

You can try a complaint to Royal Mail, but there's no guarantee of success. Do you live in a shared household - could someone else have signed for it and kept quiet about delivery? Little chance of knowing whose signature it was - those electronic signing pads rarely do more than register the odd squiggle.0

Unfortunately you won't win an INR case with eBay (as you have found out) or one with Paypal.
You can try to appeal your eBay case but it's likely to fall on deaf ears.
The seller is your best hope and it seems they don't want to help.
The Post Office is nothing to do with your delivery, you need to go to your Royal Mail delivery office (or call them) and make a complaint. Hopefully they will be able to ascertain where the parcel was delivered. Is there a name with the signature on the POD? Can you google it and see if anyone with that name lives in your street?
How did you fund the original payment? If you paid by card you *might have a chance with a chargeback from your card issuer.
*Most refuse where Paypal has been involved but I would give it a good go.0 -
Did you check that the address you used on the order was the correct one. We occasionally get orders that arrive with the wrong address and the buyer often says things like; that's because I used my husbands account; my old account; my sons account, etc.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Remember, your seller has done nothing wrong and you may well need their help now if you are going to get compensation. So ask for their help in sorting this out with RM, hopefully you've remained calm and not resorted to blaming, neg feedback, etc with your previous dealings with them.
Your seller has posted the item, it shows as delivered and signed for, it is your word against Royal Mail. But if you haven't got it, where is it? You need to try to gather as much info as you can to make a compensation claim against RM for wrongful delivery or lost post.
Check your paypal account's delivery address, not the registered one but the delivery address. Is it 100% correct. Did your seller send it to the correct address, does it show on the RM tracking? Is your address similar to one nearby, I live on a Road but also have an Avenue nearby and post is always being wrongly delivered. Have you checked ALL your likely neighbours, can you work out the likely signature? On the day and time it was 'delivered' was anyone else at your house, a workman, visitor, etc. Were you in the house that day? Was it a parcel that was too big for a letter box and had to be handed to someone, or could the Postman have signed it himself and just shoved it through the box. Have you checked around your building, shed, etc in case it was left there. I'm not sure if its still the case but it used to be the seller who had to make the claim but if they won't help I suppose you can make a claim yourself anyway. Claim forms are available at post office. Give as much information, with attachments, as you can. RM do take these things seriously as lost mail is usually fraud or theft.0 -
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies. Sorry it has taken so long for me to reply back.
It is definitely the correct address the package was delivered to.
I emailed royal mail who looked into the matter and claim it was definitely delivered, they suggest I get the sender (eBay seller) to fill out a form, which I have politely requested they do.
They eBay seller wasn't very helpful previously and I seriously doubt I'm ever going to get my package or a refund.
The whole thing has really put me off online shopping.0 -

Did you read this bit on my post above. How did you fund the original payment? If you paid by card you *might have a chance with a chargeback from your card issuer.0 -
I paid with PayPal
Royal mail told me to get the sender to fill out a form about the lost item, but the sender claims that they also contacted Royal mail, who allegedly told them that there's nothing that they can do about it. So if they're telling the truth, royal mail told us both two different things.
So I don't have my item and I can't get a refund0 -
