Horse Racing (eg Pick 7 & ITV 7) systems?

Do you have a system when picking your horses for the ITV 7 racing or Sky Sports pick 7 competitions?
For example study the form of the horses. Wait until the last few minutes to see if any of the horses odds have changed over the last hour or so? Favourite colours, the name of the horses or just randomly choose any horse no matter what odds they are
Also what's been your best results?

I just go for the lower odds and hope for the best - if there's two with similar odds I pick the name I like. I never bother looking at the results0

I do that supposedly, absolutely - never fails* system - I pick the names.
*btw, it always fails. I always seem to pick the ones with the great names, but are all on rockers.

To answer the main question, I lucky dip it. Just pick whatever I like the sound of or the colour of the shirt
Like any sport, some horses may be favourites to win but there's no guarantee with anything. If there was any 'system' that worked, a lot of people would be rich doing it every week. You could pick the favourites to win every time and lose every week. All it takes is one horse to stumble or have a bad day.
Same with the football ones that skybet do. I had a discussion with a mate in work once on accumulators. We loaded up a list that had around 15 teams on and he picked 10 that he thought would win. Kept saying "this time haven't lost this season, this time have a solid defence, this time will definitely win" etc. I just clicked 10 random teams to win or draw. We both put a pound on. I got 5 correct picks out of 10. He got 3 :rotfl:0 -
If there was a system that works they would not be offering silly money on a free to enter comp.I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus0

Not the first but one of the tiebreaks isIf a tie-break cannot settle players, then prize will be awarded to the player who submitted their Pick 7 entry earliest of those players0 -
I pick the lowest odds- unless it is andrea atzeni as the jockey, in which case I give it a miss as the poor guy seems to win as long as I don't pick him (kiss of death)0

For the big cash ones, I enlist the help of Oddschecker to get a range of bookmaker odds, what people are betting on and what the tipsters are recommending. For smaller prizes, I just view the form and pick as appropriate. Somehow, I don't have much more success either way, usually one winner, maybe two. Luckiest I have had is four winners.
Also something of note, with Sky Bet taking on ITV7 and relaunching not too long ago (replacing Sporting Life's Pick 7), the old ITV7 competition is now run by William Hill as Lucky 7.0
