Old Unused postage stamps

We have been sorting through the loft, and found my wifes old stamp collection from about late seventies through to the early eighties.
Now there is the usual mixture of worldwide stamps all franked and then there are about a hundred or more individual British stamps not franked.

Does anyone know if we can still use them? they all have their original prices on i.e. 15 1/2 P

Or are they worth selling?

Unless stamps are particularly rare and sought after their resale value is surprisingly low. Unless you are an expert you won't know whether or not they are, but have you checked ebay to get an idea of prices?

In theory, you can use any british stamp at face value even if it is old.

Had a look at eBay, the sets we have don't seem to be getting any bids so i think we will just start using them, there is over £50 in face value there so should last us a while, especially with Xmas knocking on the door. Thanks for your help :T

You are best to lick and stick, stamps from then will sell for about 70% of the face.
