The snow is starting to melt here and very slushy. We had a lovely day to celebrate middle dd's birthday yesterday as I found a place in York we had never been . It is an Inn on the river near Lendal bridge with a view of the river, the bridge and museum gardens. We had a gorgeous afternoon tea (better than B***y's) with so many pieces of cake we needed a couple of plastic containers as we could not finish it all. DDs could not believe I had found the place and organised it by myself which I think is a compliment. Older plans to take her parents in law when they next visit and the other two fancy going back for a special occasion.

When we got back around five we all got changed into pjs and dressing gown and the girls had a pamper session with face masks. hand cream , nail varnishes and shellac treatment while watching a couple of girly films. Older dd made us snacks and nachos which was lovely and relaxed.

I was in bed downstairs browsing on my laptop after midnight when I suddenly heard a really loud clattering and swishing sound and thought my central heating was going potty. Then heard a tap on my door and two dds informed me that a helicopter was hovering directly over the house as they were looking for a missing man and asking people to check their outbuildings. They reassured me they had checked all the doors were locked tight.
Youngest has just moved flats and brought three loads of washing which I did throughout the day and put some in the tumble drier only to find it had gone kaput! Cue much scurrying around putting clothes on radiators and airers and youngest dragging my dri buddy (which is as big as her) out of the integral garage into the hall so we could use that as well.
Planning on making dd's favourite chicken pancakes for lunch and making a sausage wellington with the pastry and sausage meat that needs using up.

I am so glad your daughter's injuries are not worse and that she is recovering.

Thanks for starting us off and I am not dressed yet and would be happy to make breakfast in my dressing gown but think dds would prefer me up and dressed so will stir myself as it looks as if I have a lot of cooking to do by one o clock or earlier.

Hoping that the snow melts soon and you can get outside, also that your doggy guests arrive soon to cheer you up.

    Hugs to all

Morning all, I woke at 2.30, and came down at 3. I've been making a bear and watching a film.

We had more snow last night but it is raining now. The snow is thick and it is packed hard so it may take a little while to thaw. I am hoping for clear roads tomorrow as OH needs to get to Manchester airport.

Not sure what I'll cook tonight, OH did yesterday's meal, a large pile of chicken wings in bbq sauce which I didn't eat, he knows that I can't bear bbq sauce. I ate some salad leaves and one hash brown plus a few stalks of asparagus. I think I might serve something he doesn't like today though he'd probably eat it.

I need to redo the Friday Tidy. Now it is the Sunday Mess.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Good morning everyone.

Another chilly and windy start to the day. The sky is grey so no winter sun to keep the spirits up.

Camelot - didn’t see you on the news. Perhaps that bit wasn’t shown. Mind you the amount of snow in Wales was horrendous, poor souls there being dug out of house. I’ve had my log burner on much more this past week than ever before.

I was there! It was the bit with the gentleman with a crutch, I am in the background leaning on my shovel! Just watched it again on catch up, not all of it showed our town in a good light (2 folk at the shops in dressing gowns!).

I've just been to the bins out the back, can't believe it's snowing again!

    Morning,

Snow still thick on the ground, had a little more last night. Light rain now but it will take a while for the snow to go.

Plans today may be a quick pop out - hopefully.

Watched 'All together Now' , 'Casualty' and the end of the voice.

    Have a good Sunday x

    Morning all

Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to Csarina, LW and anyone else in need.

We have a thaw here, we may even have running water at some point today.
I had a shower yesterday in the marina facilities block, well I say shower, it was more of an enthusiastic dribble, but I felt better for it.

We met CHS'S friend and wife for a meal yesterday we had a good time, we drove to their house then caught a bus and used our bus passes and went to a pub in town that does 2 meals for £8.50 I had chicken curry, CHS had hunters chicken, the others had a lasagne and a burger. We bought a bar of chocolate to share on the way home.

I'll do a full cooked breakfast this morning around 10ish and roast dinner this evening. I'll sort out the packups today as well.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Im doing steak for tea so will make the marinade in a minute,it has become a favourite here as a change from a roast.Quick as well :D

DH is pricing some work so Im going to go and dye my hair. We'll probably go and visit our friends this afternoon.

Csarina, glad your DDs injuries werent as bad as they could have been  & hope she is on the mend and home soon.
    Happy Sunday xx

It is thawing here too, a good depth of snow to go, but rain forecast later. OH says the road at the lowest level which runs alongside the river is swimming with water. Sun is out ATM which is cheering:D

I got through quite a few chores yesterday in 15 minute bursts, it really works well for me, I make a list and cross off as I achieve something, for me lists are motivating, I think others find them not so as the "not done ones" demoralise them. I find the CBA feeling takes over when energy is lacking, so even run of the mill things like load WM, DW, clean loo, wipe sink get put on. Today I need to meal plan and organise something for supper, I would love a couple of days in a hotel will HB, but OH will readily up and off in the caravan, but not keen otherwise, don't have enough personal spend funds to organise it for now, but nice to dream.

Keep dry and safe, hugs and spoons a plenty available.

Morning all, we are starting to thaw here, but there's a long way to go! My little road is nowhere near clear, but the A road on the other side of the fence is running smoothly now.
We had a little bit more snowfall yesterday evening, but it didn't last long. Unfortunately local weather doesn't seem to think we'll get any of the needed rain. There is a small chance of some around tea time, but we'll see.
I'm still feeling full of cold (worse than yesterday - typically!).
There was a bit of talk on Thursday with the best friend, of maybe going out to dinner tonight, but what with my cold, and weather, I don't think it's a good idea. She has twin babies (14 months), and I don't want to pass any germs to them either. We shall try for next weekend instead.
Have a good safe day everyone!

  • Damned weather forecast was wrong! Grr they forecast sleet and just after we had dug the car out of the garage and Mr TA had slithered to the main road (which was clear) it started to snow - heavily. The drive is now covered again and the main road too. I am worrying he won't get back up. I really am sick of this weather now.

I unearthed the pots of spring bulbs etc I had put on the top step pre the snow. Poor flowers are all squashed, bent and looking worse for wear. Maybe they will perk up - or maybe they won't! Worse things to worry about I suppose.

Just waiting for first wash load to finish, drape around upstairs and then put next lot in. I sometimes think the neighbours are filling our basket with their mucky washing as it's never empty!

Hope you are all having better weather than we are xx
