Solar PV and smart meter issue

I had some solar panels installed at the beginning of the week and today was the first day they hadn’t been covered in snow.
During the day I was getting close to 1kw, viewable from the monitoring solution that comes with it (they are SolarEdge panels).
The question is, I also have a smart meter with an indoor display and usually I see anything from 500w to 1kw on the display during the day, and today even with the panels producing 1kw, I was still seeing the same value on the smart meter. I would have expected to read much lower.
I also checked my actual meter outside and in the space of 1 hour I saw I had consumed 1kw on the meter, whilst my panels were producing close to that for the same time period.
It seems to me like something is wrong, has anyone got any suggestions or advice on what the issue could be ?
Thanks

Hiya, it may be too soon to call, but possibly your meter is reading export as import?
Have a look at section 4a on the PV FAQ's.
Keep an eye on it when the weather improves and you know you are exporting (generating more than you are using) and see if the meter continues to increase the import figure.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.0
