I don't see how a prepaid card, or indeed PayPal, are all that different from a bank account in terms of the finance industry having your money.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

  • Hi,
I've checked out Revolut, and this is the kind of answer I was hoping for on here. It appears that it might accept Paypal to top it up although there are alot of people on their forum saying you can't.
How is your experience with it?
I don't know if you'd mind asking your husband the method he used to top the Revolut card up with Paypal, whether it was a straight topup or did he register the Resolut account as a card on Paypal and then "withdraw" the money into the Revolut account?
Thanks for your suggestion, it's very much appreciated,

    Steve

If you are morally opposed to big banks, could Triodos be a way to go? They are an ethical bank who make social investments, the current account costs £3 per month but there is no overdraft facility or any other fees to pay. They do not lend money, just savings, current accounts and investments. Website is: https://www.triodos.co.uk/en/personal/

No, I don't work for them :) The ethical part of me has a small savings account with them. I also have a Monzo card which I love, and again isn't anything to do with any of the big banks, but I'm unsure if you can transfer a PayPal balance, might be worth a look.
