As they'd found the answer before anybody posted a response I don't see what you're getting so worked up about. It hacks me off when umpteen people have responded and the OP then deletes their post.0 -
If you see a post by this person in future, just quote it asap.0

I agree where "umpteen" people have replied (waste of posters' time), but I think it applies to all OPs.
If the OP had a valid question (and I presume they did - they've got 6000 posts plus a lot of thanks) I think it's a pity we no longer know the question - and more helpfully - the answer!0 -
The answer was:
"No, you can't claim against your employer who cruelly expected you to attend work in inclement conditions"0 -
Wonder if in countries like Canada, Finland Sweden etc their population start moaning when they go to work in the snow, of if it's just snowflakes(pardon the pun) in the UK?0

Probably not, but, those countries have the infrastructure, equipment and most of all experience (at an individual level) to deal with it.

That's why I didn't post when I first saw the thread. And if there's a good reason to delete the OP then I don't mind. But in this case it could easily be an issue and a solution that might be of help to other people at the moment, and as atrix is a long term member and experienced poster I'm surprised that he/she didn't leave the OP in place and post the resolution.0 -
True-ish. I have a friend living in Finland atm and they report that many Finns do break limbs in icy conditions, despite being well prepared.RichardD1970 wrote: »Probably not, but, those countries have the infrastructure, equipment and most of all experience (at an individual level) to deal with it.

Well that surgeon in Strathclyde who walked eight miles in just under three hours with "snow goggles, all Goretexed up, and with snow shoes and walking poles" (I quote from memory - apologies if I'm slightly wrong) knew what she was doing!
I know that was Scotland (understandable) but my wife has walked to and from work (four mile round trip) from Wednesday to Friday. Lots of layers, warm parka, two layers of gloves, Meindl boots (no snow shoes but two layers of socks), walking poles for stability, and a Cossack hat to keep her brain working! (Not sure if that last bit was successful or not. It's hard to tell!).
Obviously, I don't know what happened to the OP as it's gone.0
