Hi,
Sorry another snow question for you all. I have the ability to work from home but was refused to work permanently from home to which I appealed but didn't win it. This afternoon I was asked to vacate the building as the site was closing down due to the weather and they asked me to work from home. I asked to stay on site and finish my shift but was told I couldn't. I refused to work from home but am I within my rights to do this?

Only if you want to get sacked0

If your refusal to work from home was solely based on their refusal to allow you to work from home permanently, I'd expect to be greeted with a disciplinary next time you're in work. At the very least they'll be deducting the hours from your pay as, on what you said previously, your work is remotely accessible.0

As a manager i just dont get why people have to be difficult..... you never (or very rarely) win.0

Inform them your home insurance doesn't allow for business/ work activity to be conducted from home, neither has a workstation assessment been conducted to assess suitability.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

That doesn't really fit with "I have the ability to work from home", does it.
He could do this, if he really, really, really wants to be fired.
Or he could just apologise and agree to do it next time they ask.0 -

Bring it on.
The ability he had to work from home was before he purchased cheaper home insurance as a better fit was no longer required due to the employers refusal to implement the home working request.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
Is it really worth being an awkward so and so?0

Any clause that attempted to void a policy for half a day working from home would in itself be void for unreasonableness. Equally, there is no need for a work station assessment for a couple of hours home working.
Your suggestions are verging on the ridiculous.0 -
Sounds like you were just being difficult for the sake of it. I'd be taking you to disciplinary for failure to carry out a reasonable request from management.0

You'll really show them! They'll be so sorry they didn't let you work from home all the time.:)0
