Lost Company Pension

Hi
I use to work for a company in Reading called GWR between 2001-2005. It was part of a radio group that was sold to Capital and eventually Global.
I had been paying a contribution to my pension of approximately £30 per month up until I left the company and I still have payslips that show these contributions. Last year I decided I wanted to put all my pension information together from previous employers but couldn't find any statements from GWR/Global so I contacted various pension tracing services and eventually got an address for the company responsible for pensions for Global.
Their response was that there wasn't enough contributions after the plan was wound up in 2016.
So does this mean my 4 years of contributions are just lost?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

What exactly was their response? Also, was this a DB or DC scheme?

What information was given to you about your pension when you left?

How can there be contributions after a plan has would up?

    I left GWR in 2001.

I have a Clerical Medical Buyout Plan from my contributions, try contacting Scottish Widows 0845 788 3333 which is the current contact from my 2017 statement.

ETA in 2006 the scheme seemed to be being handled by Foster Denovo Ltd/David Hugh Interdependence Ltd with a note at the end they were paying Interdependence Ltd commission for advice, which given I'd never heard of them or received any advice peed me off greatly so I transferred control of it to my own IFA.

FCA regulations have banned financial services firms from using premium rate numbers starting 084, 087 or 09.

Check official website for a new number.
