Laundry gloop

Options
I know there are a few threads about laundry gloop, but I can't find them.

Using instructions I found on here I thought I would give it a go and make my own laundry liquid/gloop, but ive hit a snag.

I ordered liquid soap and soda crystals and I had some oils left over from an aromatherapy stage I went through.
I had a 6 pint milk carton washed and ready to use.

I read that a big pan of 2 litres of water was to be brought to the boil and a bar of soap grated and dissolved into the water along with the sofa crystals, it was then cooled. As I wasn't using grated soap I took the following steps.

I added my soda crystals and liquid soap to the water and boiled it, it dissolved quickly so I cooled it and put it into the aforementioned container, let it cool, added the oils and was very pleased with myself, until the following day.
It has completely separated, there is a layer of water and a soapy mess on top, no amount of shaking helps instead there are just clumps swimming about.

Where did I go wrong? Can this be salvaged?

Grateful for any advice.

When I made liquid hand soap in the past (which sounds to be the same method but without the soda crystals), it went clumpy and slimy and separated over time so I re-heated it and added glycerin and that seemed to help. I also used a stick blender to get it back to the smooth consistency; I believe some people do that in the first place to make sure it's really well combined.
