4 days 'til Debt Free...

I've just set up my last payment to my credit card to clear the balance completely, and my first to make a mortgage overpayment ;)

As of October 24th - I'm free (of debt).

Good luck to everyone else :D

    In a nutshell:

I took out an £18,000 car loan about 4.5 years ago at £373 a month, repaying about 2.5k in interest - I managed to make the final payment on that about 3 months ago (9 months early)

I had a credit card that I took out to get £5000 on 'commission fee' travellers cheques from M&S, to pay straight in to my current account. This paid for a brand new kitchen, and it is the final repayment on this card that will be completed on 24th October.

I've also managed to bring my overdraft down from £1600 to £200, which I rarely even use now.

I'm fortunate in that I get paid quite well, but it has still taken a lot of overtime working to sort things out ;):D

That's Wonderful news. Are you planning to do anything special with the extra (not surplus) cash?

I saw a lovely brand new Impreza in my local Garage for £24k yesterday..........

    er, NO.

Apart from paying the maximum £499 a month extra on my mortgage, I plan to build up some savings now. I really should have savings at the age of 37
