They've taken the valuation fee - Can they still decline me?

Hello all
Having been frighteneed by my boss by being told "Only a sub prime lender will consider you" I was pleasantly surprised that the Woolich seem to be saying yes.
They have now taken the valuation fee. So can they still decline me because of me? Because of my credit record? (1 default for 800 odd quid from 1992 (cleared in 1993 but showing as cleared last year...) which shouldn't be there anyway)
This mortgage business is making me very jumpy I can tell you!
I know they CAN decline me at any moment but is it likely?
Thanks for all help

It is possible that they can decline you after taking the valuation fee.
Have you checked out your credit report on Experian? You can get it free for a limited period. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Yes I have - Thats how I found out about the default... (THe first I knew of it too)
The thing is - They did the credit search ages ago. If they were going to decline me on my credit report, wouldn't they have done it straight away? I am only borrowing 30% LTV and twice my annual income so I am a "good bet"
<sigh> I had hoped I was nearly out of the woods - Maybe not! I don'twant to give my solicitor the money for the searches or instruct my surveyor until I know I'm going to get the mortgage!

With 30% LTV I think you will have no problems. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
