Change Start/Finish Time

Hi,
Can someone help me please. My employer has just told me that they are altering my start/finish time .
Background.
I started with them 1st October 2015. They came up to me that day and offered me either 9/5 or 10/6.
I chose 9/5. The rest of the people here work longer hours or 10/6. I want to stick to 9/5.
Do I have any options apart from be a disgruntled worker?
Please advise as they want my agreement tomorrow!

What does your contract of employment say ? If it states that your working hours are 9-5 then your employer has to honour that. If the contract states that hours are flexible according to the needs of the business ( or words to that effect ), then you don't really have a lot of choice.
If you're contracted to work 9-5 and the employer wants to change the hours, you'd have to sign a new contract. Of course, it would be your choice in that scenario as to whether you accept the revised hours or not.0 -
This is an 'old fashioned/style' company. I wasn't given a contract as such. I had a 2 line email before I started.
35 hours a week 20 days holidays + bank holidays salary £.
That was it.0 -

Yes - in a way.
However I realise that this might sound like I'm being awkward, but I'm not.
When I started I was offered either of the times and being honest I was trying to impress the company and knew (as I had discussed at the interview) that I would require finishing at 4 on quite a few occasions. So I took the 9-5 option as it didn't mean any time off as I could work through my dinner.
However it now suits me and will mean a complete shift in my time off if I am forced to move.0 -
Ask for the stats between your time 'shift' and that of the 10-6 crew and build a business case if you are ultimately shown as way ahead?
I'm opposite I broke away from the conventional contracted 9-5 to secure as many sales in a day as possible and help myself. The hour's adjustment can make all the difference. And if I ever become eligible for a one to one or an appraisal, it would certainly be used in the 'what have you done to support your role' box!0 -

To be honest I didn't think hat would matter as I work 35 hours a week. If I work through my dinner I claim hour overtime unless I finish at 4.
It's just the extra hour at night is going to add an extra hour and half travelling home as it's busier at 6 than 5pm to get home! So what I do in the evenings I would no longer be able to do.0 -

That's not really their problem. If you are one person working out of sync with the rest of the company, do they actually have to have the office open at 9 especially for you? A lot depends on what you do and how your company works.0 -

If I read this right you are meant to be working 9-5pm, you instead work 9-4pm and work through lunch. You then claim overtime for the 4pm-5pm time? Is that right?
I suspect this has riled your employers which is why they are changing your working hours.0 -

10/10 for initiative to the OP though - same no. of hours away from home but paid overtime rates for one of them :rotfl:0
