Discount/Low Start Mortgages

Options
I have only four years left of my mortgage with the Halifax.
Can i change to Discount/Low Start Mortgages (e.g. ones that give a low interest rate for two years) with another provider?

Not too sure if there is a minimum length of time for such mortgages.

Thanks in advance!

You may be able to find some lenders who will do a remortgage for 4 or 5 years on a discount rate for 2 or 3 years.

However, if you only have 4 years left the fees may be an issue if there is only a small balance. Even with a fee free remortgage you will have to pay an exit fee with the Halifax. This could offset any gains.

Have you asked Halifax for another deal - though there could still be a fee.

Plan B - if fees are not a problem you could remortgage for a longer term with a flexible mortgage that allows you to overpay so getting back to the 4 year term.
