Tea infuser

I'd never realised that tea bags contained plastic. So I'm going back to loose leaf tea. This means I need some kind of strainer. Any advice on using an old fashioned tea strainer versus a tea infuser?

We’ve recently made the same decision
I bought my husband an infuser but I find it more fiddly to empty than the tea strainerweaving through the chaos...0 -
I make tea in a pot anyway (except when camping!) and think that an old fashioned tea strainer is the best. Over the years, I have been bought gifts of various 'infusers' and they are all useless. I even have one that is very pretty, like a miniature tea pot that my grandmother gave me for a 'leaving home' gift 50 years ago, and it too, is useless!0

Ta. I think I suspected as much - and I also make mine in a pot. Maybe I'm slightly OCD but imho teabags in a mug are just gross.0

I bought a friend this one as a funny gift.

A teapot really does make the best tea0 -
I use a teapot with an intergrated infuser. It works well and is more conveniant than having a seperate tea strainer for each time I pour a cup.
However when i am in the office I use bags and a individual cup infuser. I am trying to ween myself off teabags but that is easier said than done when in work and people make tea for me (we do go in rounds btw!)YNWA

PG Tips goes on sale next week in non-plastic teabags, Coop are working towards the end of the year. My current bags will last until I can buy non-plastic ones so don't consider it's worth going down the loose and infuser route.Make £2025 in 2025

Then you will find me highly uncouth.Ta. I think I suspected as much - and I also make mine in a pot. Maybe I'm slightly OCD but imho teabags in a mug are just gross.
Not only do I make tea in huge mugs, but I don't take the teabag out. If I'm making for someone else at the same time I might add theirs to mine for extra flavour.

We have a pot with an integral strainer/infuser thingy; if Mr LW is just making tea for himself, he uses an infuser ball; if we're both partaking, he uses the pot. (He makes better tea than I do, so I leave him to do it
)
We dislike tea bags because you can't use the exact amount of tea you want, and we both like our tea quite weak (sorry, VfM) so we find teabags very wasteful unless we are certain we're both going to want 2 cups of tea.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
We like weak tea and just use one teabag in a teapot. We then top up the pot for a 2nd cup - so 4 cups from one teapot.
